Tips for Easeful Living
It is easy for me to say "choose simplicity and ease" but a lot harder to get there. I know! I still need to remind myself on a nearly daily basis not to make things harder than they need to be.
When we choose simplicity and ease, like I did in April, it makes for more joyful, relaxing and yes, organized, days. Here are some ways we can choose simplicity and ease in our daily lives:
- Keep Our Spaces Tidy. It's easy to let stuff pile up, but just as easy to take 5 or 10 minutes to: go through the mail (most days it's all recycling), clear the kitchen counters, throw in a load of laundry or vacuum up dog hair. We can feel at ease in tidy spaces.
- Make Shopping Lists, For Everything. Let's give up recreational shopping! Use things up and wear them out. To avoid the temptation of impulse shopping I keep lists such as: clothing, shoes, household, garden, office, etc. It's always easier to stay out of the shops and choose not to buy things impulsively.
- Limit Our Commitments. When we are intentional about how we use our time and who we spend our time with our commitments are joyous and not draining. It's okay to say "no".
- Look At The Big Picture. It's so easy for us to get wrapped up and stressed out over life's daily struggles, but most things are small stuff in the grand scheme of things. When we realize this, it's easier to make decisions quickly and avoid the clutter of postponed decisions.
