All in cleaning
I thought I would share my current cleaning routine as a follow up to last month's post on gratitude and habit tracking. Hopefully, this will inspire you to create your own cleaning routine, or perhaps you have a few tips to help me stay more consistent with mine.
Here are a few things I am doing to get back on track and bring peaceful, calm energy to my family.
While things are still uncertain and sometimes scary, I feel less anxious in general. I try to find acceptance in our current circumstances. Acceptance isn't a passive "I cannot do anything" mindset. It's more of a "what can I do now" frame of mind.
Time and again, the thing that gets me and keeps me in balance is maintaining a clean and tidy home. Our homes are our sanctuaries from the busyness of the outside world. When I am at home I want to feel peaceful. Things are a lot more peaceful with clean, clear surfaces.
For the last 31 days I have been walking through the FlyLady BabySteps over on Instagram Stories (currently available in the highlights section on my Instagram profile). This exercise turned out different than I expected. As with most of us when we start something new, the first few days I was eager to share each step. Around day 12 my excitement waned, as I realized that I had cherry picked the FlyLady habits and implemented them in a very different order than the website suggests. The "official" order felt convoluted to me.
My ugly perfectionism can make everything seem overwhelming and a big deal. Throughout the month of February I have been trying to get stuff done, clear open loops and in general, be more productive. Stuff is getting done. And, there are a few work and personal projects that just keep getting pushed back. Does this happen to you?
